I am designer from Latvia, 20 years young and totally obsessed with design trends, developing web-sites using CSS, HTML, xhtml, WordPress and designing at Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks. At this site I will try to make your life easier as web-developer, designer or freelancer and hopefully we will learn together. And yes, that’s me in that picture, thought You might be interested who’s running this site.

用Jimmyr的话来说JimmyR.com 是一个mashup of the best sites on the internet（一个把互联网上有关网络的最好网站的最新信息的一个聚合），就是把Digg、Delicious、Lifehacker、technorati等一些流行的网站上最新最热门的信息呈现一个页面上，内容每15分钟更新一次，可以说是很新鲜的。Jimmyr还为这些聚合而来的信息链接添加了一些实用的功能：

网站内容主要分为News、Tech、Pictures、Videos、Sicence、Amuse、Trends、LoL Vids、JimmyR、Weekly十个板块，每个版块都包括几个网站的信息链接，不同的网站用标签分开。网页最上面是Jimmyr的其他网站的链接，也是一些很棒的东西，真佩服Jimmyr，搞了这么多cool stuff！页面的右上方还有一个Jimmyr特制的搜索框，这可不是一个一般的搜索框，用它可以搜到很多隐蔽的资源，关于这个搜索框以后再作具体介绍，先来看看Jimmyr写的网站使用说明：

点击不同的标签来查看来自不同网站的内容，再点一下标签可以直接进入该网站。点击链接前面的图标你可以看到来自digg和reddit的评论。点击则可以使你将该条信息添加到del.icio.us（如果是一个新闻链接）或者是从youtube中下载视频（如果是一个youtobe的链接）。

Click the different tabs to see a different websites content, click the tab again to go directly to the website. Clicking an icon like this will let you see comments from digg and reddit. will allow you to add a site in del.icio.us or download a video for youtube.

Opening links in new tabs 如何在新标签中打开链接

你可以用Ctrl+左键单击来在新标签打开链接。

You can just ctrl (command on mac) + click or middle click to open a link in a new tab. I can’t think of a practical way to allow an option for opening a new tab by default since the site is ajax based.

Configuring the description popup timeout 配置链接信息预览的延迟时间和页面风格

页面上的很多链接具有预览功能，只要你把鼠标放到链接上停一下就会显示该链接的相关信息，如果是视频链接还会显示视频截图。将页面滚到底部，你会发现Configure JimmyR.com设置框，在这里你可以设置预览信息出现的延迟时间，以毫秒计，比如30000毫秒就是30秒，如果你设置成30000，你就必须把光标悬停在链接上方30秒才会出现预览信息（囧！这个例子举的很有艺术。）如果设置成200的话基本上是当你的鼠标滑过时预览信息即时显现。点击Skins:后面的链接可以修改jimmyr.com页面的显示样式。

Scroll to the bottom of JimmyR where it says ‘Configure JimmyR’ and set the Tooltip timeout. eg. 30000 milliseconds is 30 seconds. Your mouse must be hovering on the link for 30 seconds for the tooltip to come up. 200 milliseconds on the other hand is almost instant.

Jimmy的youtube视频用Google来下载MP3比limewire更好用（注：limewire是一个可以搜寻任何一个在网络上的个别电脑上的共享文件的软件；它相容於Gnutella软件的共享文件的协定，更可联结至没有使用Gnutella软件的电脑上，在电脑一启动时就会连结到LimeWire Gateway上。）得到了240万的点击量。以目录/形式存放的音乐文件是为了防止垃圾邮件假冒搜索结果列表（不知道是不是这个意思，以目录形式存放）

Jimmy还在添加了很多搜索选项，你几乎可以用它来找到任何东西，音乐、视频。。。打开搜索到的页面，在音乐文件链接上点击右键链接另存为，就能下载了。“总是有人来问我：当我打开链接是quicktime就开始缓冲歌曲了，这该怎么办呢，我真受够了”这么低级的问题让Jimmy很无奈啊,哈哈！

History

Archive.org shows around august 2006 is when I started making my site into a mashup. My first major project was may 2003, eliteskills.com which is a writing site with all custom written code. JimmyR.com was just my personal site and I thought I’d customize it so it could be my homepage. I used it to practice my regular expressions rather than using standard xml parses with rss. This method allows for parsing anything but tends to break on minimal changes to the layout. Currently the site still parses everything with regular expressions and now downloads and parses all sites simultaneously using my cURL class.
